It is HIGHLY recommended to use the salon-professional products sold at the salon. These are much more gentle than products from the supermarket and will help protect your investment. Only use Sulfate-free, Sodium Chloride-free shampoo and apply at the roots/scalp (never in the ends!) and apply conditioner from the middle to the ends - it’s ok to condition your scalp and ends if need be.

Yes, hair extensions can use ALL the moisture they can get! Using the recommended fortified leave-in conditioning spray when you get out of the shower will make a big difference in keeping the extensions soft and smooth. A weekly deep conditioning mask is a great treatment for the ends of the hair, especially if the hair is long or for those who blow dry, curl and flat iron often.

Yes, it is recommended to AVOID using products with heavy oils or silicone on the hair as they can create a waxy layer of buildup that can only be clarified out. Ie. Moroccan Oil. Gels, mouse, and other volumizing products are ok, just so long as the bonds are not over-saturated with the product.

Yes, you can use hot tools, just make sure not to damage the hair with excessive heat. Do not apply heat directly on the bonds with either a flat iron, curling iron or with a blow dryer. It is recommended to use a thermal protecting spray to help prevent heat damage.

Yes and no. The 5 Star hair is not reusable so you will need to buy new hair to replace the old hair. The 7 Star virgin hair is reusable and can be rebonded up to 3 times. Please note the hair has to be mailed back to the company in California and then they send it to Austria for rebonding. This can take up to 8 weeks. Most clients will buy a second set of hair and rotate, so as to not go without extensions while waiting 8 weeks for rebonding.

Yes, but only professionally. You can apply permanent color to roots, as long as the color is not overlapped with the bonds. You can also glaze your hair with a demi-permanent color. If you do foil highlights, you will just need to avoid the area with the bonds.

Yes! One of the BEST things about our human hair extensions is that the bonds are ultra-thin, flat, and very small. They are installed about 1-2 inches away from your natural hairline and about 1/2 inch away from your scalp. This makes them virtually undetectable!

Yes and no. You will get a special extensions brush to use at the roots. It is VERY important to brush your hair at least twice a day. You can use other brushes (round, paddle, vent, etc.) from the middle of your hair to the ends, just as long as those brushes aren’t pulling at the secured extensions at the root. Always brush your hair out prior to showering and always detangle gently. Do NOT brush or wash your hair upside down!

No, it is recommended to dry the extensions before you go to sleep, so as to not have moisture trapped on the bonds. Please tie dry hair back in a loose, low ponytail at night when you go to sleep.

You can wear the extensions for up to 6 months with regular tidy-up cuts. Clients whose hair grows slowly may be able to wait 9-10 weeks for their tidy-up cut, where as if your hair grows average/fast will want to come in about every 8-9 weeks or so.

When you come in for a “tidy-up” cut, I look through the extensions one by one and give them a mini trim on the hairs that have been shed out to keep the bond clean and tangle-free. This is essential to keeping the hair healthy and in for up to 6 months. DO NOT go more than 10 weeks without coming in for a tidy-up cut! Extensions will need maintenance every 8-10 weeks or so. Not coming in for Tidy-up cuts can cause damage to your natural hair which Studio S Salon will not responsible for.
